Description

Longitudinal Joints (L-J) are considered the weakest link in the performance of asphalt pavements. Research has shown there is a definitive relationship between density, permeability, and pavement performance. This webinar is based on the result of a joint-FHWA-Asphalt Institute nationwide investigation to identify Specification and Construction practices, and methods for improvement. The recommendations to improve L-J performance include: mix selection, design and planning, alternative techniques and materials for consideration, preferred specification methodology, and best practices for constructing L-Js. It includes examples of successful State initiatives to increase joint density and improve performance.

Who Should Attend

All those persons involved in designing, specifying, constructing, inspecting, and approving quality asphalt pavements should benefit from the information provided in this webinar. Successful implementation of the recommended improvements will benefit both agencies and contractors.
