Intelligent Compaction - A Smart Innovation |
Register online to view the webinar recording.
Description
This webinar will provide participants with an overview of the effort to study and implement the use of Intelligent Technology (IC) in the United States. IC is the most recent major innovation in compaction technology since vibratory rollers over 30 years ago. This webinar will focus on the application of IC technology to tandem drum rollers used for compaction of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA). In the first presentation, FHWA's Lee Gallivan will introduce the concept of IC and the benefits to both agencies and contractors it can provide. He will also describe the ongoing IC Pooled Fund project, which is a three year research study of field projects in 12 states. Bob Horan, Regional Engineer for Asphalt Institute, will then provide the second presentation which will give details of the ICPF's asphalt materials studies and “mini-demos” and discuss the major findings of those research efforts. Webinar participants will clearly understand that IC is the future of compaction technology and that IC can be used to improve the compaction process itself and that it can be a valuable tool for QC and ultimately acceptance of the compaction operation.
