Jacqueline Bartek graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Kentucky in 2002. After earning her Master of Science in Library and Information Science in 2005, she joined the Asphalt Institute to manage library operations and promote library services and activities to the staff and the trade association’s member companies. She has been with the organization for twenty years and has been involved with several projects. The IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) review of bitumen fumes was a significant event for the industry and her support was crucial in preparing for the evaluation. She currently manages Industry Stewardship Alerts; a member only service that tracks regulatory activity on the federal and state level, industry news and recently published literature.
Jacqueline is a member of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), and ARMA International, the world’s leading information management membership organization. She served as President of the Special Libraries Association Kentucky Chapter in 2016 and 2025.
Jacqueline and her husband, Jami, live in Stamping Ground, KY with their three chunky orange cats (Bruce, Boomer and Boone) and one chunky dog (Lolo).
Things Jacqueline is particularly proud of:
- Serving in a leadership role for the KY Community of the Special Libraries Association.
- Participation in the Rotary Club’s Group Study Exchange in 2008. Travelled in India for 30 days giving presentations to Rotary club chapters in the state of Maharashtra. Participated in Rotary community projects such as surgery on Sunday and administration of the polio vaccine to children.
- Travelling to Brazil for a study abroad opportunity.
- Publishing a case study in Constance Ard’s Corporate Libraries: Basic Principles in a changing landscape. The case study was titled “oral history as a knowledge management tool”.
- Officiating weddings in her free time.
